Fuckyeahmusicalfilms’ Favorite Dances
The Littlest Rebel (1935)
Performed by Bill Bojangles Robinson & Shirley Temple

Of all their amazing dances together, for some reason, this one here is my favorite. Look at their honest chemistry. Look at their feet and how the amazing 7 year old was able to keep up with the great Bojangles. I love that they’re making their own music with their mouths and accenting it with their taps. It looks so natural to them, as if they’ve been dancing together for years. I watched this dance again and again because it’s wonderful. You can’t look away, I dare you!

That one dance in the streets is my favorite. It was perfect and sassy and wonderful, just like them.

Oh my goodness!

Bill Robinson claimed that the idea for his “staircase dance” with Shirley Temple came to him in a dream. He later recalled of the dream, “I was being made a lord by the King of England and he was standing at the head of a flight of stairs. Rather than walk, I danced up.”

Haha, what a badass.

Oh my heartstrings!

Oh my heartstrings!

What the heck is the first dessert on the left? They look like fried eggs! Eew!
