The Shorty George, You Were Never Lovelier (1942)
Performed by Fred Astaire & Rita Hayworth
So I have a huge girl-crush on Rita Hayworth so watching her dance around (and keep up!) with my man-crush is just magical. You can tell she’s a dancer and the footwork in this is exquisite. But my absolute favorite part about this dance is the energy. They jump around, clap their hands and never stop smiling at each other the entire time. Their happiness is contagious!
“The Shorty George”
Music by Jerome Kern
Lyrics by Johnny Mercer
Sung By Fred Astaire and Nan Wynn
You Were Never Lovelier (1942) Original Soundtrack
Happy 94th Birthday, Rita Hayworth
(October 17, 1918 - May 14, 1987)“She just threw herself into things, and when you see the abandon with which she would dance, all you know is you want to watch her. And you’ll watch her in almost anything - you’d watch her wearing a paper bag. You’d rewind and watch it again, and rewind and watch it again.”
-Nicole Kidman

A cute, candid moment between Rita Hayworth and Fred Astaire on the set of YOU WERE NEVER LOVELIER (1942).
