That move in the third gif gets me every time. They trade off jumping over each other’s legs. Just brilliant.

“I’ll Be Hard to Handle”, Roberta (1935)
Performed by Ginger Rogers
I wanted the film version of this because of her accent! It’s fucking wonderful! And the song is incredibly….sexy. She’s hard to handle and the way Fred stares at her in the scene is pretty… sexy! He can definitely handle her! It’s such a fun song and you can hear her enthusiasm in every punctuation. When I sing along, I do the accent. =)

Top Hat (1935)
In choosing my favorite films, I knew I had to include a film starring Fred and Ginger. I absolutely love all ten of them, but this one was the first I had ever seen and it will always hold a special place in my heart. What makes this the best is the music. I’m pretty sure I have the entire soundtrack on my ipod. Ginger has that feather dress, Fred dances in his top hat, the supporting cast is hilarious, and the art-deco design is absolutely stunning. It’s no wonder these films are considered masterpieces.

“I’ll Be Hard to Handle”, Follow the Fleet (1936)
Performed by Ginger Rogers
Ginger is so damn feisty in this movie, oh my gosh! And this song goes perfectly with her character and, let’s face it, Ginger herself. I always want to get up and dance around like she does in the movie. Or at least wear a sailor’s hat. Doesn’t she have a lovely voice? I love her!

Pick Yourself Up, Swing Time (1936)
Performed by Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers
This whole dance is in my ipod, I just can’t get enough of it. I can’t get over how easy they make this look, and how every time I watch it, I catch a new little side step or gesture or facial expression I had never seen before. They’re both dancing geniuses and it seems to come to them without the slightest bit of effort. Ugh.
